This work, with the incipit “La terre appartient à l’Éternel,” was composed in 1916 and published posthumously in 1924. Written for brass, organ, harp, timpani, and chorus, this short sacred work was almost certainly meant to be used as a concert piece, not a liturgical one, due to Boulanger’s use of a French translation of the text, which would not have been permitted in the Roman Catholic Church at that time.
