Louise Farrenc – Sextet in C minor

Farrenc composed the Sextet in 1852, but we don’t know when exactly the premiere occurred. We do know that it got private and public performances shortly thereafter, and both critics and audiences received the work favorably. Like most of her music, however, it fell out of fashion essentially immediately upon her death in 1875, and it wasn’t until 1996 that an engraved edition appeared thanks to Furore Verlag. This edition is taken from her manuscript, not Furore’s edition.
