Paul Critser – Concert Piece: The Commute

Instrumentation:

strings, marimba + vlc or bsn solo; also piano reduction

Duration:

7

Paul Critser’s theme to The Commute was originally written about the short story superhero “Theme Music Man,” and then adapted for a short film about commuting. When neither project came to fruition he retitled the work Concert Piece: The Commute and dedicated it to the commuter, as superhero. Out of the driveway and on the way to work the driver arrives at the inevitable bottleneck. Breaking free for the final dash, the ending represents the denouement of having arrived safely to the workplace.

This piece comes with a separate piano reduction intended for rehearsals, but it could also be used for performance without the string orchestra.
