Giacomo Puccini (arr. Rolin) – “Recondita armonia” from Tosca

“Recondita armonia” is the first romanza and the first “grand tune” in Tosca, sung by the painter Mario Cavaradossi, comparing his love interest Tosca to a portrait of Mary Magdalene that he is working on. Themes in this aria will reappear later in the opera in the love duet “Qual’occhio”. Here, Clem Rolin arranged the aria for trombone solo and concert band in the original key of F major, thus retaining the famous top B(flat) at the end of the aria.
